Bikeology Cupcake Award Gets Rolling

E-mail Print PDF

The presentation

The inaugural Cupcake Award was presented following last weekend's 14 August club race to Glenn Searle. It was also the opportunity for the award's sponsor, Jimmy from Bikeology to show himself to the club. The idea behind the award is to provide encouragement to club members who attend regular training and to recognise improvement at training and on the race circuit. The award is granted at Cupcake's discretion and will be presented after the club race at coffee on a monthly basis.

Cupcake selected Glenn for the award this month citing that following his recent sign up with the club he's been a regular face at Tuesday/Thursday morning training. Glenn also borrowed a roadie (his own wasn't ready in time) for his first road race - the club's own Charles Coin - and went the whole distance. And, to top things off, Glenn had a go at his first club crit race out at Nundah on the day of the award presentation. All up, a solid effort. Well done, Glenn.

To get things rolling, the award this time round included a pair of cupcakes (one for the award's namesake and the other for winner) decorated in Bikeology colours plus the regular offering of a complimentary, labour only, bicycle service*. So, from here, the challenge is out there to see who will be Cupcake's pick for next month. Until then, you might want to follow a piece of Jimmy's advice and Just Ride!

Racing and conditions on the day were tough near Mulgowie, while the medical team (Grant Cracknell, Bruce Curtis and Bethany van Loenen) had a quiet day with only one minor incident requiring their attention.
